Care for Your Car this Autumn

While we may be past the extreme heat of summer and not quite into the chilly depths of winter, we are now officially into the season of Autumn. This means a whole mixture of different weather conditions, including a high chance of heavy rain. It has been proven over the years that Autumn can be a tough few months for your car, so in this blog we are going to be sharing our tips for how you can look after your car at this time of year.

Check your tyres

As we see a huge increase in rainfall over the coming months, you will soon notice the wet and slippery conditions of the roads that you are driving on. Your tyres are always bound to feel the effect of the wet roads, so it is important to check them regularly throughout Autumn. If you ensure your tyres are the correct pressure and in good condition it will help to avoid slips, slides and wheel-spins. By having your tyre pressure and tread depth checked, you will be able to keep on top of these issues.

Wind Screen Wipers

With the increase in rainfall over the Autumn months that we have previously mentioned, there is another part of your car that is going to come into use more than usual… your wind screen wipers! You are likely to have not used your wipers much during Summer, so you should make sure you check that they are in good working order. If you notice any signs of abrasion or damage this could end up effecting your vision when driving in the rain, so it is vital that you replace your wipers with new ones.

Have Your Battery Checked

As the weather turns colder, it is important that your vehicle’s battery is fully charged, in order for your car to start without any issues. Signs that your battery needs urgent attention include, corrosion on the battery terminals or cable ends and loose connections. If you do notice your battery having issues or displaying these signs, you should seek to have it replaced by a professional ASAP!
